What a finish to the season for the Surfers Paradise Bluewave. After finishing minor premiers and then dusting Musketeers in the semi's, the Wave had to battle it out with the Pine Rivers Rapids. Game 1 went to the good guys 3-2 in an awesome pitching performance by Wayne Ough who threw the complete game for the win. Shane Thomson led the offence with a home run and a sac fly to get the boys over the line.
Game 2 didn't quite go to plan with Matt Gahan on the mound, who didn't quite have his devastating stuff on the night. Coupled with some errors in the field and a lack of offence the Bluewave went down 8-4 even with home runs from Utting and Wardrop.
So it was back at Windsor on Wednesday night for the finale which saw part time pitcher and Surfers Stalwart Ben Foster take to the mound. Foster ended up throwing the complete game as well as leading the offence with a Grand Slam Home Run in the Wave's 6 run 2nd inning. Backed by some good defence Foster went on to hold the Rapids to 3 runs for the 8-3 win and the Championship.
